Job Description

Atlas Technical Consultants is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Project Manager to support and grow our environmental consulting practice throughout New England. This leadership role is responsible for managing complex environmental projects, maintaining strong client relationships, providing technical expertise, and supporting business development initiatives across a broad range of environmental consulting services.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in contaminated site assessment and remediation, environmental compliance, project management, and client service, along with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and foster long-term client partnerships.

Location: Remote within New England or Hybrid from our Woburn, MA office.

Core Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

  • Lead and manage environmental assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance projects throughout New England.
  • Manage site assessment and remediation projects under New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) programs and applicable state environmental regulations.
  • Oversee Underground Storage Tank (UST) assessment, remediation, and closure projects.
  • Manage Environmental Due Diligence projects, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance and support to project teams across the region.
  • Review technical reports, work plans, remedial designs, proposals, and regulatory submissions to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable environmental regulations, industry standards, and Atlas quality requirements.

Project & Financial Management

  • Serve as Project Manager for environmental consulting projects from proposal through completion.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, cost estimates, and work plans.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and achievement of financial objectives.
  • Manage project risks, client expectations, and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.
  • Support revenue growth and profitability through effective project management and client service.

Business Development & Client Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with commercial, industrial, municipal, and state agency clients.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Prepare proposals and participate in business development and client presentation activities.
  • Collaborate with Atlas professionals across service lines to support cross-selling opportunities and integrated client solutions.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives throughout New England.

Mentorship & Team Support

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to environmental scientists, engineers, and project staff.
  • Support staff development through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on technical excellence, safety, and client satisfaction.

You'll Thrive Here If You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of environmental consulting experience, including project management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing environmental assessment, remediation, due diligence, and regulatory compliance projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of New Hampshire and Eastern New England (NH, MA, ME, RI) site assessment and remediation environmental regulations.
  • New Hampshire Site Remediation Program (SRP) experience strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or Licensed Site Professional (LSP) registration preferred.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, client communications, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to travel periodically throughout New England as well as providing spill response technical support.

About the Job

  • Career Level: Senior
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: $115,000 - $140,000 annual salary
    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
