Geotechnical Engineer 2

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer 2 to join our Miami, FL team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support geotechnical projects from proposal through completion, assisting with scope, schedule, budget tracking, and deliverable quality.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and interpreting geotechnical field and laboratory programs (SPT borings, test pits, percolation tests, pavement/earthwork evaluations, and ground improvement support as applicable).
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, and recommendations (foundation, earthwork, and site development), with QA/QC review support from senior staff.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and coordination for field technicians and subcontractors (drillers, labs), including work plans, logistics, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and agencies as needed to support project execution, field access, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and business development support (scope write-ups, fee inputs, client communications, and follow-ups).
  • Perform site visits and construction observations for foundations, earthwork, pavement, and related infrastructure to confirm compliance with recommendations and document conditions.
  • Promote and follow safety procedures in both field and office operations, support job hazard analyses and safe work practices.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Geotechnical emphasis) or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, including subsurface investigations, geotechnical analysis/design support, report preparation, and construction-phase support (CMT/inspections preferred).
  • Familiarity with Florida geotechnical practices, permitting/agency processes, and applicable industry standards.
  • Engineer Intern (E.I./EIT) required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear geotechnical reports, logs, and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Technical requirements:

  • Assist with planning and execution of geotechnical investigations, including field exploration oversight, coordination of laboratory testing, and engineering evaluation/analysis.
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, including soil and rock mechanics and groundwater conditions typical of South Florida.
  • Support foundation recommendations/design considerations, earthwork evaluation, construction materials testing (CMT) coordination, and day-to-day site activity management.
  • Contribute to preparation of geotechnical reports, proposals, calculations, and related technical documentation, ensuring quality and timely deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and direct technicians, coordinate with clients/contractors, and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience/knowledge providing construction oversight and verification for foundations, earthwork, pavement evaluation, and related infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with common geotechnical engineering software/tools for analysis.

Other miscellaneous qualities:

  • Ability to travel within Florida, as required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check for clearance to work on various private and government projects.
