We are seeking an Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist 1) to join our Seattle, WA team! Come join us!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform soil and groundwater sampling for subsurface assessment and remediation projects.
- Oversee drilling and log soil samples.
- Compile detailed, well-organized data/field notes and photographs.
- Prepare reports, including analysis of data and development of conclusions and recommendations.
- Prepare chain-of-custody forms for analytical testing and record survey data on approved forms.
- Travel locally and regionally in the Pacific Northwest to project sites using company vehicle.
- Implement Atlas’ health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform field work related to environmental, due diligence, remediation, industrial hygiene, and Brownfields projects in the Seattle area and the Pacific Northwest region.
- Work closely with regional management to perform requested client/project tasks in both a field and office setting.
- Positively interact with internal and external clients, service partners, and contractors.
- Promote a safety-first culture that values proactive measures and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other team members toward a common goal of providing client-centric services with high quality interactions and deliverables.

- Manage assigned project tasks on time, within scope and within budget in a safe manner.
- Perform routine maintenance of field equipment utilized by the Seattle office.
- Assist with cost estimating and procurement of equipment and parts.
- Willingness to be cross-trained for other environmental assignments as projects are awarded.
Minimum requirements:
- Atlas is currently seeking a staff- or project-level Environmental Scientist for our Seattle, Washington office, supporting current and upcoming projects in our Washington and Pacific Northwest Region.
- The ideal candidate will have good technical and organizational skills and be able to work independently on assigned project tasks with limited supervision.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a university or college degree in environmental science, geology, or other applied science, or a high school diploma with several years of applicable experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering consulting firm.
- Position includes the performance of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; environmental compliance audits; soil, vapor, and groundwater sampling; stormwater compliance sampling; and/or mold, indoor air quality investigations, lead inspections, asbestos air monitoring, and asbestos surveys for private and public sector clients.
Technical requirements:
- Preferred candidate will be 40-hour HAZWOPER trained with 8-hour annual refreshers completed.
- Preferred candidate will also have a working knowledge of United States Environmental Protection Agency and State of Washington environmental regulations and standard procedures and methodologies related to due diligence, site investigation, remediation, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental compliance projects.
- State of Washington certifications preferred, as applicable. Candidate should be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and possess excellent report writing, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency in CADD and/or GIS is also considered a plus.
- Candidate must possess the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision and as part of a professional team to meet organization and project objectives.
- Candidate must also be able to pass a standard drug screen and motor vehicle background check.

- Ability to travel, primarily within Washington but also within Atlas’ Pacific Northwest Region.
