Senior Communications Strategist/Writer

We are seeking a Senior Communications Strategist/Writer for a part-time opportunity to join our Atlas team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

A talented communications strategist and writer with real-world experience who can create, develop and manage communications plans and provide writing/editing for communications materials. Must be able to translate complex and technical topics into stories, Op-eds, blogs, talking points, and news releases that inform, educate and, in some cases, help change the behavior of a variety of publics. Candidate must be an independent and collaborative worker supporting executive leadership and department directors and must be able to develop strategy for and write/edit e-news mail, blogs, social media, Op-eds, news articles, speeches, videos, and reports.

  • Ability to assist in the strategic planning and production of communications materials in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Ability to develop and implement proactive and reactive short- and long-term writing projects that position agency brand, educate and improve image PR.

  • Must be able to develop and write copy for executive leadership

  • Ability to write, edit copy and proofread

  • Promote brand through the written word and across print and digital - websites, direct mail, newsletters, education, blogs, etc.

  • Ability to obtain a strong understanding of the target audience and subject matter.

  • Perform market and/or competitor research to support content generation.

  • Work with subject matter experts and MarComs team to brainstorm topics.

  • Experience producing written communications for multiple and varied target audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with teams at many different levels.

  • Commitment to customer service and to excellence in work.

  • Highly detail-oriented, strong editing skills according to established best practices, consistently tagging topics, and thoughtfully linking internal and external messaging.

  • Ability to adjust to a rapid pace of project turnaround and multiple changes to the project.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field

  • 7-10 years of experience in editing, publishing, or related area, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Ability to do research using a variety of methods and mediums. Can quickly grasp the tone and style of the subject matter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years' experience copywriting and editing for AEC industry, business, government, corporate and/or nonprofit with exceptional grammar skills, use of AP style, and understanding of syntax; ability to quickly grasp subject’s tone and style.
  • Have significant experience in research using a variety of methods and mediums.
  • Experienced in writing for both short and long formats.
