We are seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our team! This person can work remotely in IN, OH, or KY. Come join us!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage subsurface investigation and remediation projects' scope, schedule, budget, staff, and subcontractors for existing public and private clients, including in the solid waste sector and for industrial clients.
Direct and oversee the selection, design, cost analysis, installation, optimization, and operation and maintenance of various remedial systems including air sparge, oxygen injection, soil vapor extraction, and groundwater pump and treat.
Interpret geological and hydrological data to understand aquifer characteristics and groundwater dynamics, including in landfill and solid waste settings.
Provide peer review of project deliverables, e.g. reports, proposals, cost estimates and plans for national, regional and local clients.
Responsible for preparing feasibility studies reports, pilot test reports, corrective action plans, remedial action plans, and remediation progress reports.
Develop and update proposal, report, plan, and protocol templates for remediation
Provide leadership, training, mentoring and support to junior staff and serve as a project manager for regional soil and groundwater remediation projects.
Minimum requirements:
10-15+ years of experience in hydrogeology, including investigation, characterization, and remediation of contaminated sites in the solid waste and industrial sectors.
B.S degree in geology, civil/environmental engineering, environmental science or related field. M.S. degree a plus.
Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) credentials preferred.
Excellent leadership and client management skills.
Effective technical writing, strong oral communication, presentation and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organization and project objectives.
Technically adept, flexible, and forward thinking.
Exhibit ability to successfully track and meet budgets and schedules.
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental assessment and remediation regulations and requirements.
Ability to design field sampling programs, manage multiple subcontractors, as well as, interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites.
Willingness to travel regionally for short periods of time.
Driver's License and safe driving record.
Technical requirements:
Consult on geology and groundwater issues related to landfill monitoring and permitting, surface impoundment closures, and environmental investigations.
Sample collection, data evaluation, statistical analysis, and reporting at landfills .
Geology and hydrogeology for permit applications, surface impoundment closures, and regulatory compliance.
Geological and hydrogeological investigations of bedrock and unconsolidated deposits throughout Indiana and the Midwest.
Manage, design and installation of groundwater monitoring systems according to permit requirements and Indiana landfill regulations. Determine monitoring well screen depths and sampling equipment based on site hydrogeological characteristics. Initiate groundwater sampling and analysis programs to determine groundwater quality prior to placement of waste.
Work with client project managers, legal counsel, and communications office. Direct development of the sampling and analysis plan and oversee field sampling program and report preparation. Coordinated preparation of site plans with posted water quality results using geographic information system (GIS) software. .
Prepare geologic and hydrogeological reports, cross sections, and maps for closure and post-closure of ash impoundment systems. Integrated local and site-specific geologic and groundwater data to determine groundwater monitoring locations and depths.
Provide project management oversight and prepare interim and summary reports for groundwater assessment monitoring program at solid waste landfill sites. Evaluate statistical comparisons, comparisons to soil concentrations, and solubility information to show that concentrations are natural and not attributable to the landfill.
Develop multi-phase groundwater, soil gas, leachate, and landfill gas sampling and analysis work plans.
Develop regulatory guidance for the preparation and review of groundwater monitoring statistical evaluation plans. Evaluate solid waste landfill permit application to ensure compliance. Review environmental monitoring networks, manage and interpret environmental analytical results.
Other miscellaneous qualities:
Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) credentials preferred, or ability to attain the PG/PE within one year of start of employment.
