Job Description

Atlas is seeking a Vertical Construction Inspector to support multiple facility projects as they move into the construction phase. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring day-to-day construction activities and providing clear, consistent updates on project progress. You will play a key role in ensuring work is completed in alignment with project plans, quality standards, and safety expectations.

This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys being in the field, working alongside project teams, and serving as a reliable source of information for stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable tracking progress, documenting observations, and communicating effectively with contractors, project managers, and other team members to keep projects moving forward efficiently and transparently.

Core Responsibilities

  • Travel to active construction sites across DeKalb County to observe work in progress and support ongoing project oversight, maintaining a strong on-site presence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform field inspections as directed by the Project Manager, ensuring work aligns with project requirements, while relaying accurate, timely updates to project managers and engineers to support informed decision-making.
  • Provide reliable documentation by entering detailed inspection and summary reports into electronic systems, ensuring all records are clear, complete, and up to date.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions with a high level of accuracy, demonstrating attention to detail and consistency in executing assigned inspection tasks.
  • Build positive working relationships with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders by demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills in both field and office settings.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • High school diploma or GED required, along with 2–5 years of progressive experience in vertical construction, including both ground-up and interior projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment used in vertical construction environments.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License required, with the ability to travel locally (up to 100%) to active project sites; no out-of-town travel required.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and clearly explain construction documents, including plans, specifications, contract provisions, and inspection procedures.
  • Experience performing independent inspections of structures and materials to ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and project expectations.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, including the ability to guide or instruct others on proper work methods, participate in meetings (concept reviews, field plan reviews, CPM schedule reviews), and support project close-out activities.
  • Proficiency with basic technology and tools, including MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and general office equipment; experience with construction plan review and evaluation is preferred.
