Job Description

At Atlas,?we’re?providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you’re an Environmental Compliance Specialist ready to advise clients on environmental regulations and drive compliance across air, stormwater, and multi-media programs and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. You’ll perform compliance audits, develop plans such as SPCCs and SWPPPs, manage projects, calculate emissions, support permitting, and partner with clients to implement practical, compliant solutions that support safe and sustainable operations. Core Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist clients in determining the applicability of air pollution rules and regulations and obtaining or renewing necessary permits.
  • Advise and assist clients in meeting air compliance obligations such as developing compliance schedules, monthly and annual tracking of throughput, hours of operation, fuel usage, operational standards, emissions reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Advise and assist clients in meeting plan and permit obligations for stormwater such as permitting, no exposure, inspections, discharge monitoring, BMP implementation, and reporting.
  • Develop compliant Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
  • Complete air emissions calculations from regulated sources at client facilities.
  • Develop and present compliant solutions that enhance business operations, continuity, and growth.
  • Train clients and Atlas staff in multi-media environmental compliance regulations and requirements.
  • Perform regulatory compliance audits to review client operations and ensure adherence to all relevant environmental laws and regulations.
  • Conduct project and program management activities, including preparing proposals, estimating costs, overseeing staff, communicating with clients, and preparing invoices.
  • Procure additional follow-on work of varying types from clients/stakeholders.
  • Promote an environment where Atlas team members establish relationships and build trust with clients and stakeholders.
  • Promote a safety-first culture that values proactive measures and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other team members toward a common goal of providing client-centric services with high quality interactions and deliverables.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental studies, ecological sciences, or related technical field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of practical experience with multi-media environmental compliance activities, specifically including air and stormwater compliance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulators and clients.
  • Experience with multi-media environmental compliance, including air pollution control, stormwater, and SPCC regulatory programs.
  • Proficient in regulatory research and interpretation.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).
  • Knowledge of basic chemical/physical science parameters including but not limited to flash point, boiling point, pH, solubility, and density.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
  • Skilled at effectively and accurately communicating complex information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High degree of personal accountability for work quality.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Location in Atlas ENV West region (OH, KY, MI, IN, IL, WI, MN, IA, MO, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX, MT, WY, CO, NM, ID, UT, AZ, NV, WA, OR, CA, AK, or HI).

About the Job

  • Career Level: Senior
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000
    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
